Local Government in Kansas is the product of a collaborative effort among various local government associations in the state. All of these associations share a commitment to civic education and developed this project primarily as a means for enhancing the students' knowledge about local government in this great state. It is important that our students have an understanding of the level of government closest to them. The students of today are our future leaders, voters, activists and volunteers. They are the future mayors, school board members, and city managers of our state. Throughout the book, certain key concepts have been highlighted as a teacher's guide. The local government associations proudly offer these materials as a means to assist local government teachers in their quest to provide quality civic education to the students of Kansas.
